Home School Agreement

The Commitment of Parents and Carers

Attendance

● We will ensure our child arrives in school by 8:35am.

● We will make certain that our child attends school every day, except in cases of illness or other legitimate reasons.

● We will schedule routine doctor and dentist appointments outside of school hours.

● We will not plan for family holidays or other absences during term time.

● We accept that the school must refer unauthorised absences, which may result in a fine.

● If our child is absent, we will contact the school before 8:00 a.m. on the day of the absence to report it.

Home Life

● We will provide a supportive environment at home that encourages learning.

● We will take an interest in our child’s work, including ensuring they complete their homework.

Sanctions

● We will support the school if our child receives a sanction (e.g. a detention).

● However, we will make contact with the school if we have any concerns about a sanction.

● We understand that schools do not seek permission to arrange a detention but 24 hours’ notice will always be given to a student if their detention is due to take place after school.

Uniform

● We will ensure that our child adheres to the school’s published uniform and appearance policy and expectations.

● We will work closely with the school to ensure that problems with our child’s uniform and appearance are addressed without delay.

● We understand that we may be required to collect and return our child if they fail to be dressed or appear correctly.

Healthy Living

● We will encourage our child to take part in PE, physical activities, after-school clubs and extra-time clubs.

● We will only provide packed lunches and snacks that are healthy and nutritious.

● We will encourage our child to go to see the school nurse or a GP if we know or suspect our child is smoking tobacco or other unhealthy or illegal substances.

Parent-school communication

● We will always make ourselves available to the school by providing an up-to-date phone number.

● We will read all reports and attend all Parent and Teacher Consultation meetings.

● We will treat all school staff with respect and courtesy at all times and acknowledge that a failure to do so may result in being denied access to the school or its staff.

● We understand that if our child commits a serious breach of the Code of Conduct, we will be expected to come to the school to discuss the matter as a matter of urgency.

We have agreed and discussed this with our child. We are committed to this agreement because we believe that Chipping Norton School wants the best for our child and will work with the school if a problem arises.
